Cloning is the process of creating a new animal that is a genetic duplicate of a pre-existing animal. One way of thinking of a clone is that it is a later-born identical twin. Clones tend to resemble the originals (also called donors) to a great physical degree. Strong behavioral similarities between clones and donors have also been reported in some species, including both cat and dog. This section of the website contains a general description of the science of cloning, the specific challenges unique to cloning dogs, a profile of our scientific team, a summary of our unique legal rights to clone dogs and cats, and other issues such as clone resemblance and social benefits of cloning technology. |
